Deployment Sequence
🚗 On Approach — Alternate Position
Direction of travel → Alternate Position — alternating L/R off axis
⚠️
High Alert on arrival: Rifles pointing out of vehicles, eyes on scope. Wait for signal before dismounting.
📋 Deployment Steps
1
Alternate Position & High Alert
Stop vehicles in alternate positions. Rifles out, eyes in scopes.
2
Ground Recce (Commanders)
Wait for signal. Mark potholes, obstacles. Ground-guide vehicles in.
3
HQ BSM Actions
Position sentries · Identify COA, RCP, CCP, latrine, POW cage
4
Wheel Chokes & BCS
Deploy wheel chokes. BCS: light mode first → heavy mode. Inform BOC when ready.
5
Sector Allocation
BSM allocates sectors of defence, briefs commanders. Sectors assigned codewords (Apple / Banana / Chiku / Durian).
6
Mark Shellscrapes
Mark out (don't dig) shellscrapes per local defence plan.
7
Rehearse All Drills
Ground Attack · Air Attack · Counter Fire · Vehicular Ambush
🔴
FIRST THING: One long whistle blast, then shout "CONTACT! [DIRECTION]!" — everyone echoes it.
Everyone — 3 Beats
👥 SHOUT · COVER · FIRE
1
SHOUT
Direction only — FRONT / LEFT / RIGHT. Everyone echoes."CONTACT! FRONT!"
2
COVER
Into your shellscrape. Face your sector.
3
FIRE
Aimed shots into your sector. Then listen for ONE word from the commander.
Commander & Signaller
🎖️ COMMANDER — 2 Words
Enemy small → close and finish. Pairs fire & move forward."ASSAULT!"
Enemy big → pin them, stay put. Suppress from shellscrapes."HOLD!"
💡
Rule of thumb: enemy < 1/3 our strength → ASSAULT. Otherwise HOLD.
📡 SIGNALLER — 1 Line to FDC/BOC (concurrent)
CONTACT. GRID [123456].
ENEMY [DIRECTION], [SIZE WHEN KNOWN].
STATUS: HOLDING / ASSAULTING.
🗣️ Fire & Move — The Only 2 Words
1 · Coverer fires & shouts"COVERING!"
Buddy may only move after hearing this.
2 · Mover shouts, dashes 5–10m, drops into cover"MOVING!"
Once in cover: shout "COVERING!" and fire — roles swap. Repeat.
🔁
Golden rule: One fires, one moves — never both at once. Nobody moves until they hear "COVERING!"
✈️
TRIGGER: BOC informs of incoming aircraft (direction + timing). S4/S1 honks vehicle horn to alert all personnel.
4-Step Air Attack Response
1
GRAB CE Equipment
Immediately consolidate critical items. Move fast — do not leave these behind.
📻 Manpack Radios 🧭 Compasses 🔫 Rifles 💊 Medic Bags
⚠️
Leave vehicles and heavy equipment. Only what you can carry on your body.
2
ACCOUNT FOR STRENGTH
Section leaders do a rapid headcount. No one left behind before evacuation.
3
EVACUATE — 500m OUT OF DEPLOYMENT AREA
Run 500 metres out of the deployment area, moving in a direction perpendicular to the aircraft flight path. Aim for tree line / dense vegetation for cover and concealment.
Aircraft flight path ✈ CSS 500m ⊥ 500m ⊥ 🌿 Hide in vegetation
4
WAIT & REGROUP
Stay concealed. Wait for BOC's "Air Attack Lifted" call. Then regroup, account for personnel and CE equipment, submit LOGREP / PERSREP.
📋 Quick Checklist — What to Grab vs Leave
GRAB
Manpack radio sets · Rifles · Compasses · Medic bags · Personal field equipment
LEAVE
Vehicles · Heavy equipment · Tentage · Non-essential stores. Vehicles and equipment can be replaced; people cannot.
🚗
DEFAULT = FLEE. We are CSS — we do not out-gun a block force. Out → Fire → Smoke → Go.
Everyone — 3 Beats
👥 OUT · FIRE · GO
1
OUT
Dismount on the side AWAY from fire. Get behind the vehicle — it is your cover.
2
FIRE
Aimed suppressive shots at the enemy position. Keep their heads down.
3
GO — when you hear "SMOKE! GO!"
Throw smoke. In pairs, fire & move rearward — "COVERING!" / "MOVING!" — until clear. Then gather on the commander and count off. No one left behind.
Commander & Signaller
🎖️ COMMANDER — 3 Calls, In Order
1 · On contact"CONTACT LEFT! DISMOUNT!"
2 · Trigger the flee"SMOKE! GO!"
3 · Clear of contact — consolidate strength"GATHER!"
💡
Enemy obviously tiny? Commander may call "ASSAULT!" instead. Default is always flee.
📡 SIGNALLER — 1 Line to FDC/BOC (concurrent)
AMBUSH. GRID [123456].
FIRE FROM [LEFT/RIGHT].
STATUS: BREAKING CONTACT.
Dismount Side — What It Looks Like
🚗 Vehicles pull off-axis alternating L/R — personnel dismount on the side AWAY from enemy fire
Road / Direction of travel → ⚠ ENEMY FIRE FROM THIS SIDE V1 V2 V3 V4 V5 V6 ● Personnel dismount AWAY from fire → use vehicle as hard cover ← Bound back Vehicle Dismounted personnel Enemy fire Retreat direction
⚠️
Vehicle body = your cover. Dismount away from fire. Never stand in the open.
💣
INCOMING ARTILLERY — IMMEDIATE ACTION
You have less than 5 seconds from the sound of incoming rounds.
The 3-Step Counterfire Drill
1️⃣
SCREAM
ARTY! ARTY! ARTY!
Everyone echoes. Make it loud. No exceptions.
2️⃣
PRONE IMMEDIATELY
Drop flat. Face down. Arms over back of head. Get into shellscrape if within reach. Stay low until "All Clear".
⚠️ Show genuine sense of urgency — no casual walk. Drop.
3️⃣
WAIT FOR ALL CLEAR
BOC broadcasts "All Clear". Vehicles disperse. Commanders check status via radio or runners. Casualties → MEDEVAC.
Post-Counterfire Actions
1
Vehicles Disperse
Spread vehicles to reduce target density. Do not cluster.
2
Commanders Confirm Status
Via radio or runners — check personnel strength and equipment damage.
3
Assess Casualties & Damage
Triage WIA. Identify damaged equipment. Report to BOC.
4
Request Permission to Displace
Ask BOC for authorisation to move to alternate position. Collapse BCS only with permission.
ℹ️
Why the urgency matters: Artillery shells fragment laterally. Being prone reduces your silhouette by ~90%. Standing personnel are high-value targets.
👁️
Work in pairs — one challenges, one covers. ≥15m gap at all times. When in doubt — treat as POW.
The Sentry Drill
👁️ STOP · SORT · SEARCH · SEND
1
STOP
At ≥15m — rifle aimed. Back-pedal to keep the gap."STOP! [CHALLENGE PASSWORD]"
Wrong/no reply, keeps coming"STOP OR I WILL SHOOT!"
🔫
Still coming → SHOOT: warning shot (into ground, safe backstop) → disable (lower limbs) → lethal (centre of mass — only if no other option). Report immediately.
2
SORT
Civilian Verify ID. Warn of restricted area. Escort out.
Media Delete footage. Record details. Send away.
Enemy / unsure Treat as POW — continue to SEARCH.
3
SEARCH
Get them down first — don't approach until fully compliant"ON THE GROUND! FACE DOWN! ARMS OUT! LEGS APART!"
Search position — person lying face down with arms stretched out to the sides and legs spread apart
Face down Hands out & visible Legs apart
Approach from the feet, never the head. Buddy covers throughout.

Pat down head → toe: head/neck · armpits · waistband front & back · thighs, ankles · boots. Remove phones, documents, weapons.

Cuff behind the back — one wrist at a time, zip-tie snug, not cutting circulation.
While cuffing"HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. DON'T MOVE."
4
SEND
Stay 1.5–2m behind, rifle ready"WALK FORWARD. DON'T LOOK BACK."
Escort to POW cage — away from other CSS elements, watched by a dedicated sentry. Report detainees, location found, items seized.
Never / Always
🚫
Never: give your own food or water · mix POWs with civilians · kneel over them — buddy always covering · abuse or degrade — treat with dignity.
📻
Always: radio "All quiet" every 5 min, even if nothing.
